hey guys,
Lately i've noticed that my vtec hasn't been kicking in at all. Did all the diagnostics and come to find that ECU is not sending reponse to set off the vtec. My question is can i use a vtec controller to bypass the defective portion of the ECU and make it work. Anyone's feedback would be great... thanks

Have you checked your oil level? If its too low I heard it wont switch over.

Rather than trying to bypass the factory signal you should troubleshoot the problem farther!...have you changed anything on the motor since this has happened????...the VTEC signal will only activate when all the requirements are met...oil pressure, Engine temp, Load, RPM...forgive me if I missed any
....just try to remeber if you have changed anything recently...abd If you are showing a check engine codes
Good Luck!

you probably dont have enough oil pressure to make it kick in( main bearing clearances)it happened to me, i went to the dealer to check oil pressure and sure enough it wasnt enough, then one main bearing went ( died, broke off) a few weeks later. you should check every possible option and dont bypass nothing, it wont help you out..

There are something like 12 sensors/settings that have to be ideal. Low oil like everybody is saying is one of the main things. I agree with the rest, find the main problem first. How do you know your ecu is defective? Is that just a guess?

actually, i've tested everything down to the ECU... it came down to the ECU because i actually swapped it with a friends and it worked right away. And when i put mines back in, it didnt' work again. Swapped bad with good... My next thing is get a controller if it doesn't require the existing stock to function properly. I was hoping to bypass it and install a controller...instead of replacing the ECU entirely...which is $$$$.

What's your setup? Turbo or JRSC?
If turbo, what kit?

You can use a MSD RPM activated switch...
